Have you ever wondered about the process which turns the humble silk worm into the beautiful hand
woven silk ikats of South East Asia.
Come and join us for an enjoyable and informative morning as our member Michelle Pease takes us
through the process, step by step from the silk worm, through the dyeing and ikat processes
through to the weaving of the beautiful silk ikats or "mudmee" which are still worn by women
throughout Thailand, Laos & Cambodia.
Michelle is our Events Planning Convenor and has participated in, and run several Textile Study
Groups during her almost 20 years living in South East Asia.
